Personal Values
I have been given a deep passion for education and I do everything I can to share that passion with those that I interact with as often as possible. I truly believe it has been life’s plan all along for me to be an educator. Whether I am working with students or colleagues, I am completely invested in my calling and constantly look for those moments where I can have a positive impact on someone’s life.
Personal Vision
I believe that my positive outlook on life brings joy to others whenever our paths cross. I have been blessed with the two best parents in the world who instilled in me how a happy and upbeat attitude is infectious to those around you. Working in a school setting brings stressful and overwhelming situations. When I use my personality to help diffuse these moments I notice that others take this positivity back to their own classrooms. My students will know that their teacher is someone who looks for the bright side of all situations and will feel more stable because of it. It is my hope that I can pass this important, yet simple vision on to the next generation of children.
Personal Mission
My mission is to help co-workers and students have a more optimistic approach to whatever they may do, whether it be within a school setting or in other avenues of life. I will use my own positivity to achieve this mission by:
- Teaching how to look for the smallest bit of good in a bad situation
- Sharing techniques I use to solve a problem rather than giving up on it
- Reminding others that we are never given more than what we can handle
- Being a constant example in what I do and say
A Little Background Info...
I was born and raised in Winona, MN. I am the oldest of three children and we had a blast growing up in the country. We lived on a hobby farm (ok, just two ponies and A LOT of space to play) and loved to be outside all the time. I always was bummed not to have neighborhood kids to play with but now am so happy we didn't; my family was able to become so close- although sometimes too close- to one another! After high school I ventured across the river to UW-Eau Claire where I obtained an Elementary Education degree and a minor in Spanish education. It was a great time in my life. I somewhat randomly picked UWEC and could not be happier with my experiences and lifelong friendships made.
After graduating, I was lucky to find a teaching opening in Rochester, MN. I spent a year as a K-7 Spanish LTS, then a semester as a 2nd grade LTS, day-to-day sub, then finally a full-time second grade teacher for the past two years. I have gotten a good taste of all of the possibilities of teaching positions at an elementary school. The Spanish position was an overwhelming way to start my teaching career but I gained SO much knowledge and experience that now I can't imagine starting any other way. I have been very lucky to have stayed at the same school the past four years. It is truly a great fit for me!
